The perils of posting parcels

After failing to get the LBS to post a frame for me, I eventually packed it up in a box ready to send. I came home at lunchtime today and carted it up to the local postoffice about 5-10 minutes walk away. After queueing for a while I managed to pass it over the desk where it was weighed, poked, prodded, and finally measured. At this point it was decided that it was too big for me to send via a postoffice, so I had to carry it all the way home again. Strangely I can find no mention of size limits on the Parcel Force site, maybe they lied to me, maybe the limits are hiding, or probably they just assume no-one is stupid enough to carry large boxes around by themselves.

Once back home I gave Parcel Force a quick call to find out where I could take it, luckily they do collections now, so I paid them the

    Bunch of jobsworths. My local PO will post frame-sized boxes no problem. Actual bikes get the Parcel Farce collection treatment, though.

    you probably carried the frame around more than rode it!

    I think I just about rode it further than I carried it. I reckon I carried it about 5 miles in the last few days. I’d ridden it 10 miles since the beginning of May.

    I posted a frame to Maff in a bike box (I think) and had no problems.
