I should have watched Map Man

A new series of Fifth Gear started tonight, and they’ve managed to turn it into a cheap pathetic version of Top Gear. It’s office based rather than studio based, but the "conversations" are stilted and humourless, and they’ve finally pinched the idea of having a chart of laptimes of test cars. What a waste of an hour of telly.

    5th Gear has always been a cheap pathetic version of Top Gear. VBH is the only good reason to watch it ;-)

    Map Man was good although I missed a few minutes of it when I nipped out to pick up some Chinese. The Sweeney2 was ace as well :)

    Has FG ever been anything other than a shoddy TG rip-off?

    It’s always been a TG rip off, mainly because it’s actually most of the old TG team producing it IIRC.

    However for the last couple of years it’s been a copy of the old-style TG and hence somewhat different to the style of the current TG. Now they’ve copied the current TG style they just look cheap and tacky again.
