On the move
After 4 years with Pipex I’m off to Zen as soon as my migration is complete. I’m leaving Pipex for a couple of reasons, one is that if I want to upgrade to MaxADSL Pipex want to tie me into another 12 month contract, Zen is only one month. In addition Pipex have started rate limiting p2p traffic to the same very low speed regardless of the actual connection speed, so 2Mb is just as slow as 512Kb, that combined with the general poor performance of my line over the last couple of months is enough to persuade me it’s time to move on.

Let me know how you get on. Eclipse haven’t announced any MaxDSL products yet so I may have to move. Are there any download limits?

There is a 50GB per month download limit, but I’ve not got anywhere near that over the last few months.

I’ve never really monitored my usage (no need as I currently have an unlimited connection). 50GB would probably be ok for most of the time, would prefer more for emergencies though :)

You can buy more bandwidth if you need it, so it’s not an absolute limit.

Silly money to do that though.

“In addition Pipex have started rate limiting p2p traffic to the same very low speed regardless of the actual connection speed, ”
I had no idea. That kinda sucks and explains some stuff. :-(
Let me know how you get on with Zen.

Is there not a limit on exchange proximity for 8mb too?

Yes.
With just my phones plugged in at home I should get 3-4M, with my Tivo connected as well I struggle to get 2M. Good job I’ve just ordered the bits to network my Tivo and get rid of it’s modem connection :)

I’m around 150m from the exchange so I might be able to get the full bifter :)

I installed your exchange simon so it’ll probably burn you house down or something.

LOL!

Adlington only does 2mb connection currently.

Most exchanges only do 2mb at the moment, but will get 8M at the end of the month.

i’m very excited..
we’re on 2mb at work, but a lot of the 8mb providers limited what we could do. We have some servers that we host on and we have cisco equipment so we need a dozen IP addresses and no restrictions…
Not sure who would do this for us.. any ideas? We pay
