End of a relationship

It looks like Trek and Greg Lemond are splitting up and arguing about who gets to keep the dog. Shame really, my Trek/Lemond road bike is fantastic and of a type unlikely to be seen again.

Lemond does come across as a bit of dick.

Trek must believe that Lance makes for better marketing/spokesman than Greg (especially as they don’t pay him a sublicence fee as he won all his TDF’s on Trek branded bikes). There’s also a lesson for Lance here tat if he was doping and concrete evidence is found then Trek will drop him like a hot potato.

Personally I think LeMond was one of the few brands that helped lift Trek away from it’s bland image, and Trek is poorer for this.

I guess if Greg hadn’t spoken out against Lance maybe Trek would have kept the deal, guess Lance is a bigger name now, although all the Trek bikes he used were duller than dishwater and they only started to look better after he quit.
