Just hope it keeps up for my visit in 2 weeks time! You should see the weather over here at the moment, actually right now it's lovely and sunny, but its been really chaotic! Civil warnings, deaths, houses sliding down hills...there will be Marshall Law next, looting and curfews...it's ace.

I like the way the NZ winter just lasts a couple of weeks and is really mental!

I've no idea to be honest, probably somewhat lower that we subject kit to. We've run server rooms up to 42C before without too much trouble when air-con failed, although I wouldn't recommend it if you want to keep your sanity.

Dell servers just puts the fans into overdrive when it's too hot, IBM and Fujitsu kit shuts itself down and restarts when it cools down enough.

Having just checked, the Dell Dimension PC I have at home has an operating range of 10-35C.

Out of interst at what temperature dowes the warranty on your hardware run out? We found that we couldn't justify air-con for the mere humans but once it was pointed out to management that if it got too hot the desktop PCs and servers would suddenly have invalidated warranty meaning that we'd have to fork out if they failed then things happened toot-de-sweet. Odd that.

ERK YUCK ERK I remember the pain, when I last worked in an office (wow that was 2000) in the summer the aircon would stop at 2pm, by 2:15 everyone was hot and irritated or just really sleepy.

My room at home is nice and cool, in the shadow all day :)
