A light problem
I’ve still not managed to buy a new bike light.
My aging Lumicycle set are a bit feeble these days, and my Rush HID only lasts about 10 minutes despite buying a new charger and battery a year or two back which has hardly been used.
Originally I intended to get a Hope Vision 4, but that’s out of stock at the moment so I’ve been looking around to see what else is out there and have ended up confusing myself to the point that I don’t know what to buy any more.
Current options are the Hope Vision 4, Light and Motion Seca 700 Race or Ultra, and now the new Lumicycle LED lights which look to be very good value, but not actually available yet.
Decisions, decisions, decisions…

I’m erring towards the light and motions at the moment. I have to carry both batteries now for just about any ride on my old L&M HIDs now as one seems to last just shy of 2 hours but could cut out at any time after about 1hr 45mins and the other is lasting about an 1hr 30mins max.
Not that I have any money to spend on stuff I don’t NEED as I can probably see the winter out with these batteries but they’ve served me well and the connectors still appear to be the same which is handy.

I’d probably go with the Hope Vision 4 out of those, but the SL2’s brant is/was/might be again selling look great value

I think the L&M’s look the nicest and take up less vertical space, plus they look nicer, and they’re not British, so have a good chance of not exploding in your face.

The LBS has (or had) a set of L&M Seca 700 Ultra lights in stock, and the slightly cheaper Race ones are due in this week. Chainreaction are quoting end-Nov for the Hope, and it looks like the Lumicycles won’t be out ’til Christmas.
L&M it is then :)

The race seem the ones to go for unless you don’t want to recharge for weeks on end. Think I’d rather save the extra weight and money.

I’d avoided the SL2s on the basis that spares would probably be more difficult to get hold of, particularly given the fact that it took me a good 6 weeks or so to get spare pawls for my On-One hub when it broke.

Fair enough.. I always think about spares before buying stuff too.
L&M then :)

Oh and Lupine appear to be able to compete at that price point now too.
