Ostensibly an evening to promote the new book from Joolz, the problem was she couldn’t really talk about it without giving the plot away. So we had to make do with a local poet who’s name escapes me, some readings by Steve Pottinger, then music from Mik and Matt from New York Alcoholic Anxiety Attack before the interval.
After a quick trip to the bar Joolz entertained us with readings and banter before handing over to the “special guest”, Justin Sullivan, who performed the following:
Another Imperial Day
Leeds Road 3AM
Changing of the Light
Tales of the Road
before finishing off playing backing music for a final reading by Joolz.
A very good night, albeit fairly sparsely attended.
My first trip to Fairford for RIAT, and the weather looked like it wasn’t behaving itself. Torrential rain for a lot of the morning, but fortunately whilst we were sat in the car. My midday it had started to clear, and we actually had some decent sun for the latter part of the afternoon.

One more Apple fuck-up to add to the list. The Mac App Store doesn’t work correctly if you have Spotlight disabled. Why the fuck do I need to run a disk indexing application just to buy/update other applications? This doesn’t bode well for their Lion delivery method.
For reference, if Mac App Store gives you an error saying “You have updates available for other accounts” and you get an entry in the Console Messages saying “Multibyte IDs are unsupported”, you’ll need to re-enable Spotlight, or remove your HD from the Privacy settings in Spotlight.
I’ve been waiting for this to be released on Blu-ray before re-watching it. Hopefully it’ll be worth the wait.
