Brass Monkey – Chippenham Folk Festival

I only spotted this gig a week or so back, and did wonder if we’d be able to get tickets or not, but we had no problems. We headed over to Chippenham early to make sure we could find somewhere to park expecting it to be busy, and again had no problems, all was looking good. The hardest part of the evening was finding somewhere to get a pint before the doors of the tent opened.

Brass Monkey were performing as a six-piece line-up tonight, and did two sets of about 45 minutes each plus a single encore, with a mix of instrumentals and vocal songs interspersed with the usual banter and delays while Martin Carthy retuned his mandolin yet again. A superb evening’s entertainment was enjoyed by all.
