Adam Ant – Komedia, Bath

Back in the dim and distant past, an Adam and the Ants single, possibly Prince Charming, was the first record I recall buying with my own money, I’d have been 8 at the time. It’s taken me another 32 years to finally get around to seeing Adam Ant live. He’s played locally a couple of times over the last few years, and each time I managed to talk myself out of it on the basis that I’d only come away disappointed. How wrong I was.

Barely stopping for breath between tracks the band whipped through the first 9 songs before even speaking to the audience, and when we got to what he referred to as “the hits” section, the 10 year old me nearly died and went to heaven. One of the best gigs I’ve been to for a long time, and I don’t think that’s just the nostalgia talking.

Actually, I think it was Ant Rap, 7″ single in a picture window sleeve. It’s probably still in my parents loft.

  2. Father says:

Like many of your other possessions. Black Lace and Tom Robinson before Sepulchra, Iron Maiden and Napalm Death. I think you got your musical taste from your Mother!

  3. Pav says:

Mate that’s some st! He must have played for hours! Did you have a favourite number?

Probably “Stand and Deliver”, the first time it really sank home that I was finally getting to see Adam Ant.
