Half Man Half Biscuit – Roadmender, Northampton

Having missed seeing the Biscuit in Cambridge earlier this year, it’d been a while since I’d seen them.

The support band were nothing to write home about, starting off with a bad easy-listening version of Rock the Casbah, and going downhill from there. However to be fair they weren’t anywhere near the worst band I’ve seen supporting Half Man Half Biscuit.

8:30 came and the main act arrived on stage for their near 2-hour long set. A good mix of old and new songs, although A Country Practice was a slightly odd choice for the last song of the encore.

New Model Army – Cheese and Grain, Frome

Since I was last at the Cheese and Grain they’ve started a lot of rebuilding, and the toilets are almost usable which came as a bit of a shock to the system.

New Model Army were on good form as always, working through a set split roughly half-and-half between songs from the new album, Between Dog and Wolf, and songs from the back catalogue. It’s good to see them still playing tracks from their near 30 year old debut album, before finishing off with two of my favourites.
