The Dickies – The Fleece, Bristol

If you ever wondered what it would be like if Sheldon Cooper were to front a punk band, go and see The Dickies.

The sound was atrocious, but that didn’t do much to spoil a frenetic 70-minute set from The Dickies, complete with numerous props. It’s the first time I’ve left a gig nearly deaf for a long time.

Object of desire: LeMond Washoe

Let me start out by saying I don’t need a new road bike.

I already have a very nice titanium Singular Firebird with 11spd Campagnolo Chorus, and a half-steel/half-carbon 2005 Lemond Buenos Aires with 10spd Campagnolo Centaur, neither of which gets ridden enough. However that doesn’t stop me lusting over one of these:

LeMond Washoe

It’s a LeMond Washoe. Built from Reynolds 853 tubing, mated to an Enve 2.0 fork held in place by a Chris King headset. The geometry is pretty much identical to my Buenos Aires which seems to fit me like a glove. In other words it’s pretty much perfect, apart from the small issue of there being no dealers in the UK at the moment. For the sake of my wallet hopefully it’ll stay that way.

Avro Lancaster pair at Henstridge

For the first time in 50 years, there’s more than one Avro Lancaster flying in the UK. Vera, the Canadian Warplane Heritage Mueseum Lancaster is in the UK to fly with Thumper, the BBMF plane. We headed down to Wings & Wheels at Henstridge where they were scheduled to be doing a flypast at some point in the afternoon.

I stuck the GoPro on top of the SLR to capture some video at the same time. You don’t realise quite how loud the shutter is on a 1D3 until you hear it on video.

Blocking Ecatel

Ecatel seem to host a rather large number of malicious hosts, and there doesn’t seem to be any downside to blocking them completely. If you use iptables the following will drop all traffic from the current Ecatel address ranges. Adjust as appropriate to suit your firewall of choice.

iptables -I INPUT -s 80.82.64.0/20 -j DROP
