Vet time
Hobbes seems to have learnt when his vets appointments are, he’s been avoiding me since last night, and I eventually found him hiding in the garden a few houses down. Unfortunately for him I popped round and got let into their backgarden where I pounced and stuck him in the cat basket. We’re off to the vets in a few minutes for his weekly checkup, hopefully there won’t be many more of them.

And he managed to get hold of a Dukla Prague away kit
Hobbes now has permission from the vet to venture outside the house again. He seemed somewhat reluctant at first, but once I pushed him out of the door he set off on a tour of his favourite sleeping spots. I suspect he won’t come home until breakfast time tomorrow.
On a more manly note, I bought myself a new pressure washer today to replace the one that died a few weeks ago, and proceeded to annihilate the moss on the garden path. Tomorrow should hopefully see the garden finally finished, only 9.5 years after I moved into the house.

Back in Black
Hobbes survived his visit to the vets today, and is now sporting a black bandage on his leg. At least it won’t show the dirt.
Tomorrow will be a day of brake fettling as I have some nice shiny Centaur calipers to fit onto the Lemond, then the Veloce ones can move to the Langster to improve it’s currently lacklustre braking performance. That’ll probably necessitate a couple of test rides at some point in the afternoon provided the weather is suitable.

Now with a manly red bandage instead of the pink one.

Hobbes update
After a day spent at the vets, it’s been confirmed that Hobbes has broken two bones in his foot. He’s now back home complete with a red bandage instead of the pink one, and my wallet is £170 lighter. He’s also got to go back for weekly dressing changes until it’s healed which will probably be a month or so. I’ve also got to keep him in the house for the moment which is going to annoy him.
As he’s doing the usual cat thing of hiding whilst he heals, there are no pictures of the newly bandaged leg, you’ll have to wait until he decides to venture out from behind the stack of road bikes.
I did get out for a quick 20 miles tonight on the Lemond, slightly faster than usual due to chasing Ian and Will out as far as Saltford. They tend to ride somewhat faster than me, Will more so than Ian. It’s all good practice though.
In the pink
Hobbes is currently sporting a rather fetcing pink bandage on one leg due to a suspected broken metatarsal or two.

He’s got to go back to the Vets on Monday for x-rays to confirm the break, and so they can work out how best to treat it.

Daft animals
Hobbes just lost a fight with a shoe. It chased him round the house as far as the kitchen, then finally cornered him underneath my bed. He is now cowering beside the sofa, afraid to come out again. Trying to tell him that is was only a shoe, and that it was only “chasing” him because he’d got the lace caught in one of his claws, isn’t having much effect.

Back to work
Back into work this morning for a meeting/sales pitch. Unfortunately one guy couldn’t make it, and the only software they were pitching to us was something that I’ve been using for four years already. Bit of a waste of time really, but at least I managed to sort out a few other things while I was there.
No call from the LBS so it looks like my new hubs still haven’t turned up. Getting a bit annoyed with it all now. Vet appointment later as Hobbes is unwell again, old age must be catching up with him.
Mutual illness
I’m still suffering with a sore throat and stuff, and Hobbes now has a selection of pills designed to provide endless amusement for me as I try to get him to take them. Tuna seems to be the best solution.
Update: Grant would like me to mention that he is also ill. I think he felt a bit left out that I didn’t mention him earlier.

The sound of silence
The current stage of my illness appears to revolve around me losing my voice. What fun. I always seem to get heavy colds one symptom at a time, which is slightly easier, but does tend to prolong things. It’s also a week early this year, last year it started on the 16th.
Hobbes also seems to be ill, which probably means that I’ll be trying to communicate with the vets tomorrow morning by morse code, or attempting to gesticulate down the phone. Not an easy task.
