A couple of my DSLRs need to go back to Canon for warranty work to rectify a minor problem or two. The 5D needs a mirror assembly repair, and the 1D Mark III needs a couple of AF fixes. With a view to getting this sorted out over the winter I thought I’d price up the cost of shipping a body back to Canon.

For a 1.5kg package valued at £2500 Royal Mail want the princely sum of £11.20 to guarantee delivery by 1pm the next day. Parcel Force want £120 for next day delivery of the exact same package. I wonder which I should choose?

Current Status: There was no one to receive the goods at the delivery point so a card was left.

City Link seem to have an aversion to delivering to neighbouring houses, but I’ve booked tomorrow afternoon off to pick it up from the depot and have a play around.

Update: The bastards have moved. I arranged to collect it thinking that the depot was still where it’s always been, just on the Bath edge of Bristol, but they’ve moved across town to the arse-end of Bristol by the M5.
