Support tonight came from Ahab who were good, but sounded a bit too “busy” for my liking. Too many singers all singing at the same time. Bellowhead were superb as always, and actually manage to sound decent at the Cheese and Grain which is usually sounds a bit muddy. They played for getting on for two hours finishing off with two encores.

The mass ranks of Bellowhead took took the stage for what turned out to be probably the best sounding gig I’ve been to at the Cheese and Grain. Usually the sound is quite muddy, but tonight everything sounded crisp and clear tonight.

It was a rather soggy start to the night despite the forecast for fine weather so we ended up queuing outside in the rain for a while. Inside the Roadmender was absolutely packed, but we managed to find a spare bit of wall near the front to prop ourselves against.

The stage at the Roadmender isn’t the biggest thing in the world, and proved to be slightly cramped for the 11-piece Bellowhead and slightly restricted their on-stage antics, however they still put on a superb show.

Another Bath Music Festival concert and also the last concert and therefore the closing party. It turned out to be one of the most energetic gigs I’ve been to, though not for me as my back was playing up again. Bristolians Babyhead opened the night with their infectious mix of Ska and Hip-Hop (Skip-Hop?), warming the crowd up nicely and getting everyone moving, and then keeping them moving for a good hour or so.

After a short gap the eleven members of Bellowhead all managed to fit onto the stage, and proceeded to work their way through most of E.P. onymous, Burlesque, and a fair chunk of the forthcoming album due out later in the year, culminating about 90 minutes later in second encore which was the 5-and-a-bit minutes of on-stage anarchy known as Sloe Gin.

All in all a fantastic night.
