Return of The Poppies?

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010, 9:50 pm

According to a press release from dPulse, Pop Will Eat Itself will be making a return and releasing a new album during summer 2010.

Given that PWEI have always been one of my favourite bands, this is fantastic news.

Yan, Tyan, Tethera, Methera!

The CD of Ade Edmondson’s latest musical venture, The Bad Shepherds, fell through my door today. It’s a collection of celtic/folk(ish) cover versions of such classics as I Fought the Law (Sonny Curtis/Clash etc), Down in the Tube Station at Midnight (The Jam), Rise (PiL), Teenage Kicks (Undertones), God Save the Queen (Sex Pistols) etc, and it seems to work very well. Hopefully I’ll get to see them in Frome in July, if not they’ll be at Cropredy anyway (mental note: must get around to ordering tickets one day).

Fatboy SlimThe Brighton Port Authority – I Think We’re Gonna Need A Bigger Boat

This new Fatboy Slim album is nothing like Fatboy Slim, what’s going on? This isn’t what we want!

That was just for Simon :)

Useless Numbers – the 2008 version

Sunday, January 4th, 2009, 9:48 pm

In 2008 I bought 30 CDs, 103 DVDs, and 14 Blu-Ray discs. Quite a bit more than during the previous year, partly due to a lot of sales at Play and HMV, and partly due to watching a lot more TV series on DVD. I think I’ve watched all of The X-Files, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Band of Brothers, The Lone Gunmen, Red Dwarf, MASH, Black Adder, Black Books, and The West Wing this year, and I’ve just started on The Fast Show, and Star Trek: The Next Generation.

I also bought more books than I care to count, and dipped my toes into the world of graphic novels which looks like it could become an expensive habit.
